What's in Store - 3/10/19

Important Note:

In the Planning Meeting the Pack Committee voted to move up the time of the Pack Meetings from 630-730 to 545-645, that is 45 minutes earlier than normal. Please make note in your calendars of the change. This will affect the meeting on 4/17 (Pack Meeting), I will reminder you in emails as well.

In addition it was discussed to move up the Den meetings. This decision will be made by each Den Leader as they need to be able to move their meetings to meet Den and Achievement needs. Please double check the time when you receive your Den Meeting email.

Weigh In for Pinewood Derby: March 13th, 5-7pm, Soda Creek Elementary

· *** Cars must be race ready***

· We will have a table set up, where we will confirm car length, tire width, track clearance and car weight. The 2 most common problems that we see are car weight and track clearance. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't add weight (quarters, washers, etc.) directly to the bottom of the car! If you need to add weight, please drill out a "pocket" in the bottom of the car, then fill the hole with the desired weights. It is heartbreaking having to perform MAJOR surgery on a car that can't clear the racetrack.

· We will also provide a small table with a limited amount of tools (mostly used to shave off excess weight), but we are asking all parents to NOT GRAPHITE your scouts car. It is a mess and tends to spoil the kids paint job while being stored after weight in. We strongly recommend the use of graphite we will provide PLENTY of graphite and a work bench on race day!

· We are aware that Parent/Teacher Conferences are at the same time and if the car is race ready, weigh in should only take 10 minutes.

Pinewood Derby: March 20th, Strawberry Park Middle School, 5-7pm

· Timeline: Set Up 4-4:30 (Volunteers Needed, especially Tiger Parents) Opening Flag Ceremony 5pm

Dinner and Voting immediately after

Race: 5:45-7ish

· We will have a table outside for parents and scouts to graphite wheels. Please be aware that graphite can be a mess! Please supervise your scout. ***No further alterations are allowed*** The voting table will display each scouts cars and during dinner (Pot Luck) Matt will call up each Den to vote on "Best of Show" for each Den and for the Pack. Once the track checks out and our timing gate is set, then we will start the race! We will race as many heats as we can and then calculate the results and start the Awards.

· As mentioned above, this is a POT LUCK MEAL so each Den follow our guide in bringing a dish for the Pack and families to enjoy

o Tigers: Deserts

o Wolfs: Sides

o Bears: Main Dish

o W-1: Main Dish
