Sorry, I know it's not morning and this is definitely not Vietnam; just my little tribute to a great man.

Well, the weather's getting cooler and the kids are back in school. That means it's time to pull those uniforms out of the back of the closet and get ready for another season of fun, character-building scouting activities!

Thanks to the great group of parents and leaders that attended our planning conference to organize the calendar of events for the coming year. I will be adding all the events to the calendar as soon as I can. You can view the calendar here

There is also a new (orange) button above the calendar on the front page you can click on, to register for scout events. You can use this to register for all events, activities and Popcorn Show & Sell times, but there is no need to register for normal pack or den meetings.

First on the calendar is our next planning meeting, where we will be planning for our coming Cub Scout Carnival & Enrollment Night. We will be putting in a lot of effort to try to recruit as many new scouts as possible this year. We would like to have a good number of Grade 1 boys coming in to the Tiger Den, but also really want to bolster numbers in the smaller dens like the wolves. Having around eight or so scouts in each den really makes for a better experience for the boys. 

The meeting will be held next Tuesday, September 2nd , 5 PM at The Egg & I Restaurant. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting if possible. If you can't make it, please let us know beforehand of any recruitment ideas you may have.

Our first pack meeting will be held next Wednesday September 3rd, 6:30 PM at the Middle School. We look forward to seeing you all again. We will also be kicking off our important Popcorn Fundraising Campaign on the night. Don't forget that Wednesday is also Wear Your Uniform to School Day, which is most effective in this early part of the season.

As we do each year, we will be holding Popcorn Show & Sell stalls at City Market and Walmart on the weekends and some Friday afternoons throughout September and the first weekend of October. We are also adding a some stalls at Ace Hardware this year.
Show & Sell is a really effective way to add great sales to your scout's door-to-door popcorn fundraising totals, so I encourage everyone to sign up.
As you know, our popcorn fundraiser is very important as it is the only fundraising we do during the year and means that we are able to cover our costs for events, equipment etc. and keep charges to parents as low as possible. Please sign up for some shifts of Show & Sell by clicking here, or on the orange button on the Home Page. Please note that only a few of the times are available at the moment, but I will try to get the rest up there before next week's meeting.

As most of you know, our pack normally helps out with the annual YVMC Rubber Ducky Race. Please note that YVMC will not be holding the Rubber Ducky Race this year (or perhaps anymore). If you decide to turn up anyway, please bring a lot of rubber duckies with you. It's really not the same without them.

Our annual Cub Scout Carnival & Enrollment night is coming up on Tuesday Sep 9th, 6 PM at the Middle School. More details to come, but please remember to mention it to any parents of boys you run into. It will be a night of fun and games and an opportunity for us to show people what scouting is all about.
